How to Use

Follow these simple steps for best results with your natural skincare routine.

1

Cleanse

Start with clean, dry skin. Gently cleanse the intended application area with a mild cleanser and pat dry.

2

Apply

Take a small amount and gently massage into skin. We recommend clean, dry fingers for application as to avoing introducing moisture and bacteria into the jar.

3

Absorb

Use as the final step in your skincare routine. Allow the product to fully absorb for 2-3 minutes.

Tips for Different Skin Concerns

Dry Skin

Apply to damp skin to lock in moisture. Use twice daily for optimal hydration.

Sensitive Skin

Start with a patch test. Use once daily and gradually increase as your skin adjusts. *Unscented is a fan favorite for sensitive skin*

Dehydrated Skin

Layer with a hydrating serum underneath for enhanced moisture retention and plumping effect.

Best Practices

For best results, use morning and evening as part of your skincare routine. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our natural tallow skincare
  • Our tallow is rendered from ultra high-quality leaf fat (suet) from local Kansas cattle — a traditional skincare ingredient prized for how well it nourishes skin. It's naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, plus essential fatty acids similar in composition to the lipids found in human skin. Because of this similarity, tallow absorbs easily and deeply, delivering rich hydration without clogging pores.

  • Many people find tallow gentle on sensitive and acne-prone skin. Its fatty acid profile is similar to human sebum, which is part of why it tends to absorb well without feeling heavy or greasy. Some customers also find it soothing on easily irritated skin. That said, everyone's skin is different — we'd recommend patching testing on a small area first, especially if you have known sensitivities.

  • Plant-based oils have plenty of benefits, but tallow has one advantage they can't quite replicate: as an animal fat, its lipid profile is naturally similar to the lipids in human skin, which may help it absorb more readily. Tallow also naturally contains fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K — nutrients many plant oils lack — for a richer, more nourishing formula.

  • Apply a small amount to clean, slightly damp skin — tallow absorbs best when skin is a little moist. Warm the balm between your fingers until it melts into an oil, then gently massage it into your face, body, or any dry areas. A little goes a long way! Use morning and night, or anytime you need extra hydration.

  • No! Our tallow is carefully rendered and purified to remove any animal scent, leaving a very mild, neutral aroma. If you'd prefer a bit of fragrance, we also offer lightly scented versions using either pure essential oils or premium fragrance blends — whichever you like.

  • We source our tallow from a local meat packing plant near Topeka, Kansas. Rather than relying on a specific cattle diet, we focus on what actually determines quality: careful rendering and purification. This process is what removes impurities and odor and results in a pure, stable fat — regardless of what the cattle ate. Sourcing locally also means shorter supply chains, less waste (we're using a byproduct that would otherwise go unused), and full transparency about where your tallow comes from.

  • Yes! Tallow balm is versatile and can be used anywhere on the body — face, hands, elbows, feet, or anywhere you need extra moisture. It's generally well-tolerated across skin types, including dry, sensitive, and combination skin. As with any new skincare product, we recommend patch testing on a small area first, especially if you have known sensitivities.

  • Tallow balm is naturally shelf-stable and doesn't require refrigeration. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. While we're still gathering long-term data, one of our batches made in November 2025 was still in great condition when checked the following August — a good sign of tallow's natural staying power. In warmer months, the balm may soften or become more liquid; this is normal and doesn't affect quality, though refrigerating it can help it stay firm. If you ever notice a change in smell, color, or texture, it's best to discontinue use.

  • Our tallow balm is made with just a few simple, purposeful ingredients: Tallow (rendered and purified beef fat), Apricot Kernel Oil (a lightweight oil chosen specifically for how easily it absorbs, without clogging pores — great for facial use), Vitamin E Oil (a natural antioxidant that helps preserve freshness and supports skin), and Essential Oil or Fragrance Blend (for scent — choose from our essential oil or fragrance blend options). No fillers, no synthetic additives — just what your skin needs.

  • Tallow has become one of the most talked-about ingredients in the clean beauty and ancestral skincare movement — and for good reason. As an animal fat, its lipid profile is naturally similar to the lipids found in human skin, which may help it absorb more readily than many synthetic or plant-based alternatives. It's also a traditional skincare ingredient, used for generations before modern formulations existed, and it naturally contains fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. For people looking to simplify their routine with fewer, more recognizable ingredients, tallow offers a straightforward, minimally processed option.
